The Abertis Foundation was established in 1999 with the aim of contributing to sustainable development in the territories and countries where Abertis operates.
Since its inception, it has undertaken numerous projects, outlining a roadmap based on key initiatives such as promoting road safety, protecting the environment, fostering cultural dissemination, supporting social action, and advancing education.
These efforts are made possible through strategic partnerships with national and international organizations such as UNICEF and UNESCO, having a significant impact in countries like Spain, Brazil, India, Mexico, France, and others.
The Castellet Castle, currently home to the UNESCO International Center for Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves, serves as the hub of our activities and a symbol of our commitment to building a better world.
The Foundation carries out actions aimed at improving road safety in order to reduce accidents. Its actions are aimed at raising awareness and promoting road education, focusing on three priority groups: minors, young people and older drivers.
Abertis Foundation’s headquarter, located at Castellet Castle, is the UNESCO International Center on Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves (UNESCOMED). The Center is focused on the creation of the Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves Network, promoting and developing activities aimed at promoting the MaB program and the World Network of Biosphere Reserves.
Aware of the importance of linking with the academic world for social and economic progress, Abertis promotes training, research and knowledge transfer between University and Business.
