The Abertis Chairs Awards in Transport Infrastructure Management and Road Safety, which recognise each year the best final degree projects or doctoral theses of university students in two categories (transport infrastructure management and road safety), have been presented in France and Brazil.

Given the moments of extreme difficulty that health centers are experiencing in looking after people affected by Coronavirus, the Abertis Foundation shows its willingness to join efforts and announces a donation for a total of €100,000 to the Hospital Universitario La Paz in Madrid and the Hospital Clínic in Barcelona to finance the purchase of sanitary material and equipment that is required in these circumstances.

The Spanish cabinet, at the proposal of the Ministry forEcological Transition and the Demographic Challenge and the Ministry ofForeign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, has authorised thesigning of the agreement between the Kingdom of Spain and the United NationsEducational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) to continuehosting the International Centre for Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves in our country.

La Fundación Abertis, a través del Centro Internacional Unesco para las Reservas de laBiosfera Mediterráneas (CIURBM), promoverá un estudio para la recuperación de la reserva de la biosfera de Terres de l’Ebre, que se centrará en los espacios naturales que han quedado gravemente afectados por el paso de la borrasca “Gloria” esta semana.Según el director de la Fundación, Sergi Loughney, “con este estudio, queremos contribuira la generación de recursos para la recuperación de la zona, de un altísimo valor natural, y para ello buscaremos también contar con la colaboración de las administraciones y entidades implicadas”.

The director of Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT), Juli Gendrau; the manager of the Abertis Foundation, Georgina Flamme; the director of Telefónica Companies in Catalonia, Enrique Santiago; the Manager of Yelmo Cines of Sant Cugat, Javier Meléndez; and the mayor of Sant Cugat, Mireia Ingla, have presented today #PuedoEsperar, a road safety campaign promoted by the Abertis Foundation to alert and raise public awareness of the risk of using the mobile phone and instant messaging applications improperly while driving.

Albert Batlle, deputy mayor for Prevention and Safety at Barcelona City Council; Georgina Flamme, manager of the Abertis Foundation, and Gemma Tarafa, councillor for Health, Aging and Care, have today unveiled ‘El Apagón’ (‘The Blackout’), a campaign to heighten awareness of the dangers of driving after having consumed alcohol or drugs. The initiative is aimed mainly at young people who hit the town over the Christmas period.
